The exhibition Don’t blame the messenger of gloom/Don’t blame the messenger of doom initiated while trying to answer several questions: Where had the magic/ritual potential of the traditional Romanian objects disappeared? What happens with these objects in a reality invaded by “made in China” products? How Christian are our roots, since ritual masks have long been frowned upon by the Orthodox Church as being much too pagan? Therefore, from which perspective should the traditional Romanian art be looked at? Sculptures and paintings try to reconnect, even if synthetically, the bond between traditional objects and their lost magic/ritual potential.
