Franz Burkhardt

 

Born 1966 in Wolfenbuettel, Germany

 

Burkhardt studied art at the HbK Braunschweig with HP Zimmer, E. Cimiotti, and J. Brus from 1987-1993, where he as well became a Masterstudent of J.Brus until he graduated in 1997. He also participated at the Postgraduate Course in Scientific Illustration at the Rijksuniversiteit Limburg in Maastrich, the Netherlands. During his studies he was awarded a scholarship by the Wolters Brauerei in Braunschweig, Germany in 1993, a scholarship by the DAAD for Lomé, Togo in 1994 and a one year scholarship by P. Voigt of Lower Saxony for residence in New York in 1996. After his studies he also received a scholarship of the Peill Stiftung Leopold Hoesch Museum in Dueren, Germany. Throughout his career, Franz Burkhardt has had solo shows at Stephanie Ferrario in London in 2005, at the Kunstverein Wolfenbüttel and Braunschweig in 1999 and 2001 at the Parcours sculpte, Saint Amand Les Eaux in France in 1999 and group shows at the Museum Tinguely in Basel, Switzerland in 2009, at Warehouse Contemporary Art in Teramo, Italy in 2008-2009 among many other shows.

 

His work has furthermore been shown at various art fairs, such as the Volta 5 Basel in Basel, Switzerland. Franz Burkhardt currently lives and works in Baelen, Belgium.
