Marcelo Moscheta

Born 1976 in São José do Rio Preto, Brazil

Marcelo Moscheta takes simple and ordinary materials and transforms them into lyrical pieces. The materiality of the pieces create their subject matter, as can be seen through: graphite powder on pvc boards that resemble photographs, cotton pieces inside a chocolate acrylic box reminiscent of clouds floating in lights, monotypes made by and drawn onto with carbon paper, backlight installations made of models that appear to be large scale objects such as icebergs produced with ice cubes, mountains made of small stones and powder. Through these uncommon materials and techniques Moscheta explores a wide range of concepts, ranging from notion of ephemerality, time, space, and the relation of humanity to natural landscapes. Marcelo Moscheta has participated in several group shows such as the 7th Biennale International de Gravure Contemporaine de Liége, the XV Cerveira Biennial, Portugal and recent solo exhibitions in Germany and Italy. His work is already in several museums and private collections in USA, Europe, Russia and Latin America. He lives and works in Campinas, Brazil.
