ArchiveThe intense energy generated by the sculptures results from the co-existence of two physical forces: EXPANSION and RETRACTION.
The works I am going to show at VOLTA NY are, in a way, exercises of connection with nature, with the universe and with the present moment.
Through the spiral movement of the sewing of ropes and necklaces (the same movement of the DNA, umbilical cord, planets, cyclones,…) it is possible to feel the PULSATION of matter that has the real desire of being in tune with our pulsation.
Maybe using FLUX and RETENSION, instead of EXPANSION and RETRACTION would be more appropriate at the moment. These two opposite forces are simultaneously present in sculptures as well as in the practice of Yoga (asanas), of sex and in childbirth. These three practices and the observation of nature are the basis of the works I present here.
